I may have missed something along the lines of my current comments point in my review of the previous ones.....so apologies if it has already been touched on.
Christians (and JW's), have completely divorced themselves from the Old Testament. Somehow, even within Christian circles, stoning and rape of young girls is not something they would say is "ok". Yet the people of God in this book engaged in these practices, and it seemed to be sanctioned by God.
But now.....Christians do not do that. Something Jesus did or said or whatever, rendered those actions now as something of the past, not to be done anymore.
Someone that doesn't understand Christian culture, could read the bible and think christians believe in all of those things, not knowing the nuances. Is this possibly a mistake people are making with Islam and its primary holy book?
this is very easy to watch and completely informative.. does anybody have the talent to put one together regarding watchtowerism?.

So.....I would love to help with something like this. There are a couple reasons this video works.
1) Its concise. Its built for someone who doesn't know the jargon and much about Mormons, to understand the basics.
2) Its accurate. It isn't full of subjective opinion. Factual for the most part, although as Island man mentioned, its probably being called lies from members because it leaves out what they feel would be key details.
So A JW video like this to be effective would probably need to focus more ont he general message, and doctrine. Policy related to UN hypocricy, or even the molestation cases, in my opinion would muddy the water.
the JW videos points could be...
...only JW's (.01% of the world), will live in paradise. Paradise? Yes where everyone lives forever after 144K people go to heaven to rule them. Like a new Garden on Eden, except after 100 years Satan gets to try to trick people again for one last test.
Blood transfusions (large parts of blood are refused, while all the other parts are ok. Basically ham, cheese, lettuce and mayo are cool.....but the sandwich is forbidden). We even would allow ourselves or our children to die if this was one of the only ways to save them.
Holidays. If you celebrate christmas you are disfellowshipped.
Disfellowshipped? A three man private tribunal decides if you are guilty and/or repentant regarding a variety of "sins", and if they find you guilty you are communally shunned by everyone including your family. Unless you are a minor and live at home.
These items playfully rendered would be ACCURATE, and concise.....probably filling about 4 minutes.
I say use the same method. JW's are great people, but what if they came to your door and told you what they really believed straight away.
i have been with an in active jw for 6 years, she now wants to marry and have a child, will she want to bring a child up as a witness, she says not but any experiences?
will she start go back once we are married?
(i'm a non jw)
Steve,
I think I echo the sentiments of some here. Don't be too "against" her former faith....because you may end up pushing her to it. At the same time, you really need to learn about the religion. It is VERY likely that especially after having a child, at the time parents seem to think about what direction they want their family to go and so forth, that she will consider going back.
Are her family active JW's?
If you love her you love her. If she loves you, then you both should be able to have an adult honest conversation about this.
church leaders refused to co-operate with a police investigation into a sex attack by one of their congregation on a teenage girl.. jehovahs witness paul atkin has now been jailed for five years after he admitted sexual activity with a 15-year-old.. a court heard the south shields based branch of the church carried out their own investigation after the allegation came to light and atkin was booted out.. but when police came knocking, church officials refused to help what was then a rape allegation, on the grounds of confidentiality.. prosecutor deborah smith told newcastle crown court: it would appear there was some form of investigation by the church.. we know the defendant was disfellowshipped as a consequence of that investigation but there has been no disclosure of any minutes of meetings with the defendant and the elders have refused to provide statements to the police, despite the fact the defendant is no longer a member of their congregation, on the grounds of confidentiality.. atkin, of east moffat street, south shields, was initially accused of rape but the charge was dropped when he admitted sexual activity with a child.. the court heard his victim was 15-and-a-half when he had sex with her.. miss smith said: she did not wish to have sexual intercourse with him.. the crown accept, having discussed matters with her, the defendant may reasonably have believed that she did.. she did not fight back or shout out at the time of the incident.. the court heard the woman is still on anti-depressants and says her self confidence has been shattered by the ordeal.. in a statement read to the court, the victim, who is now an adult, said: this has had a major effect on me and i cannot trust men.. i bottled everything up and as a teenager i turned to drink and drugs.. i hope he gets sent to prison and gets what he deserves.. judge simon hickey jailed atkin for five years and said he must sign the sex offenders register for life and abide by the terms of a sexual offences prevention order for five years.. the judge told him: this has had a huge effect upon this young lady.. gavin doig, defending, said atkin has a good, supportive family and partner and said his family describe him as a hard working man with a job who will face devastating consequences if sent to jail.. he added that it was atkin himself who had brought the matter to the attention of police.. mr doig told the court: this defendant made a very bad mistake a number of years ago.
he has not made any further mistakes.. he is extremely sorry he committed this offence knowing, as he did, the complainant was under age.. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/south-shields-jehovahs-witness-jailed-8567927.
I can't come here and read this crap while I'm at work. It makes me too angry.
Maybe most frustrating, is that NONE of the rank and file ever see the misquotes, the bad decisions, the noncooperation with police, the intellectual dishonesty......because you have to be willing to look at things that are not sanctioned by JW's. Argh!
check out the song about the trolley at the end of this month's dubcast.. http://www.jw.org/download/?fileformat=mp4&output=html&pub=jwb&issue=201502.
.
Hey thats in San Diego. Right in the middle of Balboa park, and with the Filipino ladies that are down here.
What a trip. A lot of people in the videos I recognize.......a lot.
apologies if this has already been posted but i am speechless.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnbmyudrwgs&x-yt-ts=1422327029&x-yt-cl=84838260#t=72.
we're all familiar with the organisations claims (and have seen the flow diagrams in books and mags) that the gb is "directed by god".
in turn, the local elders are "directed by god".
so, how exactly do they suppose this happens?
Well we all know its nonsense....but even THEY believe it. So how do they teach that they receive information? Since they claim no divine inspiration (tm), or prophetic powers (at least the Mormons own that crap), they use the word LED by holy spirit?
How are you LED, by holy spirit? Just that! Its like an intuition.
Here is the way it was explained to me by an elder. He said when the brothers pray about a situation involving someone and a JC, who may or may not be disfellowshipped, they are told to be come aware of a "particular pattern of thinking". The inescapable one, seems to be the one they are being LED to.
Ugh.
what do you make of this:.

Who knows. Someone could have been experimenting with something.....or working on a scam. I live in San Diego.
I wonder if the address on the card, is that of the Escondido Assembly hall.
.
they just put up a link to watch a replay of the "new kh meeting", here some screenshots.. .
.
Cappy.....that makes sense. I didn't look very closely. carpet tiles are cheap, and if you need to you can replace just one. (and you will need to.....often).
Of course this is all US based. In south america you have tile in every KH pretty much.
